This easy beef and broccoli stir-fry features tender steak, crisp broccoli, and a savory garlic-ginger soy sauce. Better than takeout and ready in just 30 minutes.
1 lb flank or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch (for beef)
3 cups broccoli florets
2 tbsp oil (divided)
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup water or broth
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp cornstarch (for sauce)
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1/2 tsp sesame oil
Optional: red pepper flakes, sesame seeds
Toss steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Let sit 10–15 minutes.
Mix sauce ingredients: soy sauce, water, sugar, cornstarch, garlic, ginger.
Stir-fry broccoli in 1 tbsp oil for 3–4 minutes. Remove and set aside.
Add remaining oil, sear steak in batches 2–3 minutes per side.
Return broccoli to pan. Pour in sauce. Stir and simmer 2–3 minutes.
Finish with sesame oil. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
Slice beef against the grain for tenderness.
