A quick and easy beef and broccoli stir-fry with a savory garlic-soy sauce. Ready in 30 minutes and better than takeout!
1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
3–4 cups broccoli florets
1 tbsp neutral oil (plus more if needed)
1 tbsp soy sauce (for beef marinade)
1 tsp cornstarch (for beef marinade)
Sauce:
1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
2 tsp cornstarch
1/2 cup beef broth or water
2 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp grated ginger
Optional: 1 tbsp oyster sauce or 1 tsp hoisin
Finish:
1 tsp sesame oil
Optional: green onions, sesame seeds
Whisk sauce ingredients and set aside.
Slice beef and toss with soy sauce + cornstarch. Marinate 10–15 mins.
Optional: Blanch broccoli 1–2 mins, rinse in cold water.
Sear beef in hot oil in batches. Remove from pan.
Stir-fry broccoli 2–3 mins. Return beef to pan.
Add sauce, stir to coat, and simmer 2–3 mins until thickened.
Finish with sesame oil and serve over rice.
Slice beef thinly for best texture. Use tamari for gluten-free. Blanch broccoli for vivid color and bite.
