A quick and easy beef and broccoli stir-fry with a savory garlic-soy sauce. Ready in 30 minutes and better than takeout!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced

  • 34 cups broccoli florets

  • 1 tbsp neutral oil (plus more if needed)

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (for beef marinade)

  • 1 tsp cornstarch (for beef marinade)

Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar or honey

  • 2 tsp cornstarch

  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water

  • 2 tsp minced garlic

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • Optional: 1 tbsp oyster sauce or 1 tsp hoisin

Finish:

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • Optional: green onions, sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Whisk sauce ingredients and set aside.

  • Slice beef and toss with soy sauce + cornstarch. Marinate 10–15 mins.

  • Optional: Blanch broccoli 1–2 mins, rinse in cold water.

  • Sear beef in hot oil in batches. Remove from pan.

  • Stir-fry broccoli 2–3 mins. Return beef to pan.

  • Add sauce, stir to coat, and simmer 2–3 mins until thickened.

  • Finish with sesame oil and serve over rice.

Notes

Slice beef thinly for best texture. Use tamari for gluten-free. Blanch broccoli for vivid color and bite.
